Rödl & Partner advises Borussia Mönchengladbach on strategic alliance with Ebbe Sand Soccer Academy Shanghai

Shanghai, September 2020: Rödl & Partner Shanghai advised the German soccer club Borussia Mönchengladbach on the formation of a strategic alliance with the Ebbe Sand Soccer Academy Shanghai.

The Rödl & Partner Shanghai team, specialised in sports industry advisory, had already assisted Borussia on its establishment and expansion in Shanghai as well as its first soccer development project in Suqian (Jiangsu province). The aim of the alliance under the new name “Borussia Academy Shanghai” is to improve the quality of training and competition in player development as well as the implementation of coach training programs and other soccer-related projects.

Borussia Mönchengladbach is a German soccer club, founded in 1900 and based in Mönchengladbach, North-Rhine Westphalia. The club ranks among the top teams in the German Bundesliga and is a recurring participant in the UEFA Champions League. As the fifth largest German club with more than 92.000 members, the club is advancing its international expansion and is also represented in Shanghai since 2018.

The Ebbe Sand Soccer Academy Shanghai is named after the former Danish soccer star Ebbe Sand who played for Brøndby Copenhagen in Denmark, was one of the top scorers in the Bundesliga for Schalke 04 and participated in two world cups with the Danish national team. For the past eight years, the Ebbe Sand Soccer Academy Shanghai has supported the personal, social and physical development of children and teens between 5 to 18 in Shanghai, China.
