New Policy on China’s Tax Resident Certificate

The Chinese SAT recently issued an announcement on the China Tax Resident Certificate, which will come into effect on 1 April 2025. For the first time, the new policy clarifies that applicants can apply for the tax resident certificate for purposes other than treaty benefits, such as overseas compliance or qualification certification.

Hainan Free Trade Port Expands Zero Tariff List for Raw and Auxiliary Materials

Recently, the MOF, General Administration of Customs, and the Chinese SAT jointly released a notice on the adjustment of the zero-tariff policy for raw and auxiliary materials in Hainan Free Trade Port, which will officially take effect on 1 February 2025. The notice adds 297 new items, including machinery, industrial spare parts, components, tools, chemicals, and more, to the zero-tariff list for raw and auxiliary materials in the port.
