Advance Pricing Agreement ('APA') Statistics

1. Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has signed 62 Advance Pricing Agreements in FY 2020-21

According to the press release issued by CBDT on 31 March 2022, CBDT has entered into 62 APAs in FY 2020-21 with Indian tax payers which includes 13 Bilateral APAs and 49 Unilateral APAs.

Covid-19 pandemic was prevailing during the first half of the FY 2020-21. Nevertheless the number of APAs signed by CBDT are very well compared to the APAs signed in the preceding two years (31 APAs in FY 2020-21 and 57 APAs in FY 2019-20). With this, the total number of APAs since inception of the APA Program has gone up to 421.

The Indian APA programme has been appreciated nationally and internationally as complex transfer pricing issues which were prone to long drawn litigation are being resolved through APAs.
