Lithuania: The newly appointed Local Legal Partner Maksimas Saveljevas

Maksimas brings over 29 years of experience in business law, with more than 27 years specifically in M&A. His portfolio includes over 70 successful M&A transactions, featuring deals with renowned brands such as Coca-Cola HBC, ATEA, Fortum, and Marzotto. Alongside this, he has substantial experience in privatization transactions both in Lithuania and internationally. Maksimas's expertise extends to cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and he has gained valuable international experience collaborating with lawyers and business consultants worldwide.

  

Throughout various stages of his professional career, Maksimas served as a partner in a local law firm that was part of a city-based network of law firms. He was also a partner in an international network of consultancy firms focused on creating additional value for clients from CIS countries. Additionally, Maksimas led the corporate and regulatory practice of a top three Lithuanian law firm, while simultaneously acting as a dedicated expatriate partner responsible for the firm's CIS country practice. Based in Vilnius, he also led the M&A practice of a Big Four firm.

  

Over the course of his extensive career, Maksimas has provided a comprehensive range of legal services to clients, including organizing transactions, conducting corporate legal and due diligence checks, and structuring deals from legal, tax, financial, and accounting perspectives. He has drafted and negotiated share purchase and sale agreements, along with other key documents, playing a central role in finalizing and implementing transactions. Additionally, he has overseen the post-acquisition and post-merger integration of companies.

  

Maksimas has a unique experience of M&A project successful management in Latvia, Ukraine, Belarus and other countries, where he was leading his clients throughout the complexity of outbound investment deals.

The new local partner graduated from Vilnius University, Lithuania, where he earned a Master of Laws (LLM) degree. He lectures on various legal topics and has authored numerous articles. Maksimas has been ranked as a highly regarded legal professional by IFLR1000.
