Lean production means being able to react to fluctuations in demand and also the ability to efficiently produce the highest possible number of variations of finished goods. In this area, this results in the challenge of fulfilling the many varied legal requirements for a production process which is standardised.

The following is an overview of the most important challenges which have to be taken into account in the area of production:

  • Customs: Production processes vs. customs procedures:
Required production process oriented towards implementation of legal requirements
  • Export controls: Component control – evaluation of main components included in the end product according to product lists
  • Preferences: Preference determination: e.g. permissible evaluation according to preferential law of input materials and evaluation of multi-stage production processes
  • Procedural parts lists: Product part lists: oriented to production process, but also simultaneously with an impact on foreign trade (definition of origin, tariffing, de minimis calculation, etc.)
