Review of the 13th Renewable Energies Industry Meeting in Nuremberg

On 9 November 2023, it was time again – Rödl & Partner opened its doors to representatives of the renewable energy sector. More than 150 participants and experts from the industry discussed renewable energy topics at this year's industry meeting.

Prof Andreas Löschel opened the morning with his presentation on the "Electricity market design of the future". He outlined a series of levers to better organise the German electricity market for the energy transition.

Afterwards, the field was divided and our visitors moved on to the lecture topics that were of interest to them, including in an international context. The afternoon began with a second round of presentations before Dr Gunter Erfurt from Meyer Burger Technologies answered the question of whether the "establishment of PV production in Germany is still technologically and economically sensible and feasible at the present time". This was followed by our expert talk - this year with Dr Gunter Erfurt, Tim Kallas from Blue Elephant Energy, Alexander Koffka from AboWind and Gennaro Sposato, our colleague from our Rome branch and Kai Imolauer, our RE expert. The topic was the development of a European resilient PV industry. The result was exciting, forward-looking and also dramatic: The global dependencies in PV are dramatic and pose major challenges for Europe. The pressure on European manufacturers is also increasing for wind power, batteries and heat pumps, and all this with a market perspective worth billions.

The final presentation by Prof Peter Wasserscheid was particularly exciting - his expertise in the field of hydrogen and his practical experience gave the participants an interesting insight into the future of hydrogen.
