With the start of application of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), the European Union has set the course for placing sustainability reporting on the same level as financial reporting. Auditors have a special role to play here, as only they will be allowed to audit sustainability reports in future.
