​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is an important pillar of the European Green Deal and aims to create transparency about the sustainability-related financial risks and opportunities of corporate activities, as well as the impact of companies on people and the environment.


In future, companies that are obliged to report must include their sustainability information for the current financial year in the (group) management report, which puts sustainability reporting on an equal footing with financial reporting. It is therefore important to deal with the upcoming regulations promptly and to implement appropriate measures and processes.

What is the time frame?

The CSRD came into force in January 2023 and must be transposed into national law by the EU member states within 18 months. The directive provides for a staggered start of application, depending on the size and capital market orientation of a company:​
