On 7 January 2025, Malaysia and Singapore formally signed an agreement to establish the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ). This special economic zone leverages the strengths of both regions, aiming to combine Malaysia’s land and labor resources with Singapore’s financial and investment capabilities to unlock economic benefits. Key sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, tourism, renewable energy, and the digital economy are expected to receive attractive tax incentives and benefit from streamlined procedures for setting up businesses.
